Not much is available on the Web, outside of paid subscription services, but these are worth trying.
- Access Atlanta offers this menu of current local news as well as recent items from wire.
- The Augusta Chronicle has a page of metro and state news.
- The Macon Telegraph Online has a page of Georgia news, with the emphasis on the midstate region.
- Flagpole Magazine -- the online edition of the colorbearer of Athens, Georgia's art, entertainment, music, politics, clubs, events, happenings, anecdotes, beer, humor, movies, and just about anything else. Updated weekly.
Some unusual news tools
- BBC World Service Caversham Diaries -- a calendar of events gleaned from the BBC's Caversham monitoring service. Can provide a preview of coming news events.
- The Online Newspaper -- this Canadian page features a search engine that can access a long list of international online news services.

- Satellite Surface map from Purdue
- Earthwatch severe weather imagery -- map shows all current watches and warnings, with links to descriptions.
- Real-time weather images -- A page of links to satellite, radar, and surface images.
- Georgia Skies -- links to images, forecasts, and other weather data from the University of Georgia Department of Geography Climatological Research Laboratory. Unfortunately, this is a frames-only page, but other browsers can access the menu or the introduction.
- Fox5 Doppler Radar from WAGA-TV in Atlanta.
- The Weather Channel radar map of northern Georgia.
- WSB-TV, Atlanta, Radar from Access Atlanta -- supposedly updated every three minutes, but with no date/time stamp.
- Huntsville, Alabama, Current Radar Map -- Sometimes includes metro Atlanta; more frequently shows what's heading in our direction.
